About NECC

Origin: NECC was conceived during a discussion lamenting the lack of established resource hubs for  the rapidly expanding Medical Marijuana industry in New England.  Events where patients, advocates, businesses, educators, and consumers can connect and learn from each other. We decided that a locally owned & operated series of events at key locations across the region would be a superior alternative to an outside corporate giant dropping a national business focused “Canna Con” on New England once a year.

About the Founders:

Jeff Lawrence is an unrepentant nerd & egghead with various impressive degrees. He is the founder, Owner, and Publisher of digBoston (and digboston.com), the city’s loudest alternative-media voice since 1999.

Marc Shepard is a closet nerd & failed egghead still in search of a degree.   After a 16-year career at the Phoenix papers in Portland, Providence, and Boston,  he became the Associate Publisher at DigBoston in 2012.

About Mike Cann, Programming Director: medical marijuana user and long time Boston activist, Mike has appeared in/on High Times magazine, WBZ Radio, WRKO, WBCN, WAAF, NORML Show, the Boston Phoenix, Dig Boston, NECN, WGBH,  and currently leads THE YOUNG JURKS show on wemfradio.com. Mike’s lobbied, interviewed and sometimes protested many local politicians on marijuana reform to great effect.   He’s worked on many political campaigns supporting marijuana reform.

About digBoston: Always witty, never dull, the Dig, as it’s affectionately known, is truly the cure for what’s ailing the curious mind. How do we do that, you ask? We cover local news, arts, music, sex, food, movies and shopping in a lively, funny, incisive and, most importantly, dead honest style. This has helped us develop a rapidly growing, and rabidly loyal, readership unparalleled in the Boston market. At a time when marketers are struggling to figure out how to attract young people, the Dig is has an absolute lock on the 21-34 year-old demographic in Boston.
